Mindy Goes M.I.A.

10/09/2012 was the last time a new episode of The Mindy Project premiered on television. Due to various reasons like, Presidential Debates and a special episode of X-Factor, The Mindy Project has been M.I.A. But do not fret because on Tuesday, October 30th at 9:30pm, the all new Halloween episode will be unveiled at its normal time and night!

The Mindy Project will also be staying on air for a full season! By adding nine more episodes to the original contract, FOX has decided to give The Mindy Project a full season, keeping it on air through spring. FOX also picked up the new comedy Ben and Kate for a full season as well . The Mindy Project hasn’t shown the greatest ratings, and clearly has a long way to go before it is a “hit” for the network, but FOX feels it is the type of show that they want to support and have already invested into. In the article Despite Low Ratings, Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project Earn Full Season Orders, FOX Chairman of Entertainment Kevin Reilly stated “Ben and Kate and The Mindy Project have everything we want to stand for in comedy: smart writing, hugely appealing casts and comedy that feels contemporary and real.” The full article can be seen here: http://www.cinemablend.com/television/Despite-Low-Ratings-Ben-Kate-Mindy-Project-Earn-Full-Season-Orders-47888.html

As neither The Mindy Project or Ben and Kate have reached a 2.0 rating in their targeted audience (18-49) demographic, FOX is taking a leap of faith and really backing its two new comedies to keep their Tuesday night comedy lineup in full swing.

I love to see when a network shows faith and promise in its work. That short-string mentality has led to many good shows being pulled off the air waves before given a chance to prove what they had. Hopefully, this move of ordering more episodes will pan out well for FOX and help with future early on struggling shows, also maybe set an example for some of these other networks. In today’s society people take some time to catch on to things, having a little faith could end up being really beneficial.

  1. Mindy Kaling is really talented so if anyone is capable of having a hit, it's her. FOX seems to have some really funny comedies anymore, but for some reason, the ratings always suck. I don't know what it is, but it's good FOX is staying loyal to her. They may very well have a cult hit on their hands.

  2. I haven't really given this show a chance, because Mindy Kaling's character on The Office always annoyed me. I am glad that the series has been given a full season. Also, Halloween episodes always seem to do well, in terms of ratings. So, I might have to catch it tomorrow.

  3. That is great that you know your show is going to last a full season! I haven't seen this yet and considering that I don't watch t.v. very often, I probably won't catch an episode for a while, but that picture is very funny and it sounds like a great show! From what we saw in class I liked his one right from the start. It's nice to see a minority woman doing so well when there aren't many successful actresses like that in the television industry.
